SVS Newsletter - July 2006
President's Column
Hello
to all of you. The summer heat and
humidity is finally here. I hope
you are coping well with it.
This
month’s meeting is Monday July 24th at the Thomas Taber Lycoming
County Historical Museum at 858 West Fourth Street in Williamsport.
The meeting starts at 7:00 pm. We
have a short business meeting followed by a program.
This month’s program will be Deepu and Nellie Bhattarai showing us
photos of Nepal. To learn a little
bit about Nepal before you come, you could go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepal
At
a suggestion from one of our members I would like to add information to our web
site about upcoming photo shows. If
you know of any, please send me any information you have.
I
would also like to add a web links page to our site of photographers, camera
tips and techniques and Photoshop techniques.
If you have any favorites, please send those to me.
This is
an invitation to you to come to the meeting on Monday, support the club and see
photographs of someplace you will probably never get to see in person.
Thanks,
Kevin
Next Meeting - July 24th, 2006 - 7 PM
Deepu and Nellie Bhattarai are going to show photos from Nepal. This should be very interesting and I think you should plan to attend. Before you come, you can learn a few things about Nepal by going here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepal
Minutes
of the Susquehanna Valley Shutterbugs June 26, 2006
President Kevin Stroble brought the meeting to order with approximately a
dozen folks in attendance. New member Kirk Grugan was welcomed.
Minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
At September’s program/meeting it was decided to have a version of
tonight’s meeting where members went to Ryder Park on Saturday and showed the
digital photos at Monday’s meeting. At September’s meeting which will be on
9/23/06 we will see digital photos of the previous Saturday’s outing/picnic at
Deryl L. Maruschak’s Cabin Lodge. Folks will break into small groups and learn
more about digital photography as well as take walks along Lycoming Creek or
nearby mountain logging roads. Folks may bring a dish to share. Discussion
occurred about inviting the public or maybe by members invites only.
The Secretary was directed to notify the weekly newspaper, The Web, and
the Sun-Gazette of monthly meetings and programs.
July’s program will be Mark Nance and photojournalism at the
Sun-Gazette.
August’s program will be Nepal, photos by members Deepu and Nellie.
Details of the Gmeiner Regional Juried Photography Exhibit were shared.
Deadline for entries is 7/23/06. Show opens 8/6/06 and runs thru 8/27/06.
Next
month’s refreshments will be complements of Charlotte Meddaugh
Respectfully submitted Deryl
