Minutes of the Susquehanna Valley Shutterbugs April 24, 2006

Presiding was Mike Hess, Vice President as Kevin Stroble was unable to attend do to his mother’s illness. Thirteen (13) people were in attendance. New folks were welcomed and introduced.

Show Committee Report- the current show “Members Only” opened on April 7, 2006 with approximately 75 folks in attendance. Pictures will be critiqued after the business meeting. All entrants will need to make arrangements to pick up their pieces at the next meeting on May 22nd. Much appreciation was expressed to all who brought food and drink. The club provided a sandwich tray from Wegmans and carious wines. Next show will be in late November thru January and will be a juried show open to all. The show committee will continue to meet on the 2nd Monday of the month at the Coffee and Tea Room across from the Community Arts Center with the purpose of coordinating this next show.

The Show Committee also discussed a possible June photo seminar. This had been delegated to the committee by Kevin and had to do with a ˝ day hands on digital workshop on a Saturday where the public would be invited. The first part of the seminar would be a  hands on in the field demo and the second part would be a viewing of photos taken using our digital projector. Suggested topics were basic digital photography, depth of field and several more. Members expressed interest in the event and thought this would be a good way to attract new members. All were encouraged to attend the next show committee where details would need to be worked out.

Old Business- Three plastic garbage cans were purchased by the museum as per our suggestion. The club had agreed to pay for them at a previous meeting. A suggestion was made that perhaps cloth or plastic skirts could be made to cover the grey cans during show openings. The cans were used at this month’s show opening.

New Business- Member Bruce Dart will be the judge at this year’s art competition at the “Apple and Cheese Festival”  in Canton in early October. Next month’s program will be China shots by Wayne and Pam.
